We are our own worst enemy.
I see these horrific events happen again and again and nothing changes. We spend billions of dollars on self improvement and spirituality and nothing has changed. We have therapy and 12 step programs and nothing has changed. We are becoming more addicted to numb ourselves from having to face ourselves. Selfies, shopping, reality TV, food, drugs, cell phones, the internet, making money, work and drugs and alcohol can and are used to feed our illusions and keep the brutal truth at bay. I know I have my poisons.
We as a society have become so disconnected that we can’t see ourselves. We are utterly deluded in our pursuit of control, “being right” and “having it all”. The delusion we point out in the perpetrators of these events is nothing but a reflection of our own delusion and disconnection.
The universal truth…that what is in one is in the whole…doesn’t apply only to make you look good. It applies across the board to the light and dark that we all have inside us. This is a hard pill to swallow…looking at our own darkness. It takes strength, compassion, courage and guidance. Not something I’m sure will happen in a vast enough amount to make a difference soon. We can’t fix what we can’t acknowledge. We don’t want to be this way, but, we don’t know how or have been taught to be anything else.
So, Jon Stewart is right…”We still won’t do Jackshit”.
