Yesterday’s massacre in Aurora, CO breaks my heart for so many reasons.
It breaks for those who witnessed and were injured or killed at the event. No amount of time can erase that memory.
It breaks for the families whose loved ones were at that theater. Those who were lost won’t ever be forgotten.
It breaks because of the fear it has instilled in so many of our fellow countrymen.
But, most of all, my heart is truly crushed by the realization that it takes events such as this for our country to truly pull together for just a moment and recognize our common humanity.
It takes an event like this to have two of the most powerful, influential men in our country who WE chose as a representation of OUR values… men who have been bickering and slandering each other for months to pull their ads…at least in Colorado.
“Until further notice” the airwaves in Colorado will be at peace. We can have peace from watching our candidate’s bickering and bipartisanship ads nonstop, every day. We can be at peace and not have to be reminded by these campaign ads about what this country has become. We can be at peace and not have to feel the angry energy of our divisive natures and competitive greed playing out on TV.
Peace…an unexpected outcome of such horrid actions. Peace…a welcome respite in a nation gone mad.
My prayers and thoughts of healing go to all the victims, their families and this nation as we process what this tragedy truly means.
